ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

All poetry was created by 10th and 11th-grade students under the instruction of Ms. Christman, with Mr. Chain as their mentor. Students were given the choice of several different short stories to use for their poems, including “American History” by Judith Ortiz Cofer, “Eraser Tattoo” by Jason Reynolds, “Marigolds” by Eugenia Collier, “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury, and “The Man in the Well” by Ira Sher.

My presentation for teaching blackout poetry includes examples of finished works and a step-by-step instructional process. To see this presentation, click the below buttons to open a PDF or download a PowerPoint copy.
